Palladian Chardonnay and Palladian Cabernet Sauvignon 2023
In the critics’ words
What the critics say
This is one of Australia's finest Cabernets, year in year out, showing sophistication, finesse and delicacy alongside transparency of place.
This 2020 Palladian is the best, finest, most magical, most alluring Palladian release I have ever tried. It is off the charts.
It's ethereal, a word I cannot remember often using for a cabernet.
This elevates Fraser Gallop into rarefied air.
This Western Australian example stood out for its sheer assurance and class, as well as for the intelligence of its approach.
A beautiful wine that speaks of the vineyard.

Some really complex aromas here of grapefruit pith, nettle, white flowers, oyster shell and a nutty, cashew lift.

Christina Pickard, Wine Enthusiast
Delicious now, this also should evolve gracefully over many years in bottle.

Jane Faulkner, Halliday Wine Companion
There’s no denying the appeal, even if a lot of flavour comes from winemaking inputs – as in the spicy, cedary and classy oak plus creamy, nutty lees.

Tight and powerful, high intensity of citrus fruit at the core, bound by a searing acidity that will take time to loosen its grip.

The Palladian style of Chardonnay is glassy, pristine and eminently classy.

Erin Larkin, The Wine Advocate
The 2022 Palladian Chardonnay is incredibly tightly coiled right now. I wondered why I gave this wine 95 points, when some of the other wines have warranted higher scores, and this is a brilliant vintage.

Very tight and bound, grapefruit, and lemon rind, so tight and flinty, latent complexity and lime zest, lots of grip and texture and very long with it

White peach and saline acid are the defining characters here. On the palate, the flavours extend and unfurl into all the far reaches of the mouth and mind; fine chalky phenolics serve to grip and convince a second and third sip.

Its complexity extends from the first whiff trough to the finish and aftertaste, deriving in part from the spread of fruit flavours (citrus, tropical and white peach) and the carefully managed oak.

This wine has a siren blaring ‘get out of my way’, it’s first up flavours of lemon/lemon zest/bitter lemon ricocheting around the mouth, barrel ferment inputs of minor consequence, as is the oak.
