Parterre Chardonnay 2022

Parterre Chardonnay 2022

Aromas of citrus, grapefruit, lemon curd, white peach, pistachio nut. Lively acidity with flinty river pebble dryness. Lime and lemon juice with an almond glossiness and a whisper of lactose. The wine sits nicely balanced and is quite juicy and salivating. The acidity and pH set this up as a long-term cellaring prospect which will develop a touch of richness as it matures. Should develop further complexity with 10-12 years of careful cellaring.

Awards and Reviews

"Ethereal and understated with sublime lemon zest and grapefruit characters and a focused drive of mineral and saline tightness adding to its charms. A classic style."

2024 Decanter World Wine Awards, 95 pts

"A vivacious style, that’s tightly wound, mineral-driven and really charming, almost thirst-quenching, in nature with flinty elements, spice, just-ripe stone fruits and almonds going on. There’s exceptional length, and it feels really precise and zesty at the same time. Beautifully drawn, and fine-boned."

Top 25 (#13), West Australian Good Food Guide 2023

"Subtle - crushed rocks, spice ripeness and acid line. Savoury complexing notes adds interest, lovely ride."

 Halliday Challenge, 95 pts

"Delicate aroma of peach skin, palate offers so much more. Rich sweet ripe tropical stone fruit, savoury minerals and baking spice. Well balanced with good body and crisp freshness. Pink grapefruit and salty lime appear at the succulent lengthy finish."

International Wine & Spirit Competition, 95 pts

"The wines under this label have been quite a revelation in recent years. This one from the excellent '22 vintage is another cracker. It's a precise and elegantly crafted wine with a steely minerally core. Aromas of pear and quince paste with a little citrus tang. The palate has a slightly crystalline minerality with a lingering finish. Has a distinctive sea spray talky character which is most appealing."

Ray Jordan, 95 Points

"Tasted a whole raft of Chardonnay yesterday, which is usually a pleasure. Ginger and grapefruit, cedar and spice. Very zesty and citrus-laced acidity, spicy oak in tow, some almond to smooth things out, with a bright finish of good length. Not exactly flavour packed, though pleasingly brisk and energetic. It has the makings of something very good with more time in bottle."

Gary Walsh, The Wine Front, 94 Points

"This is an elegant chardonnay with layers of roasted almonds, white sesame, apricots, pie crust and peach pits. Full-bodied, nutty and delicious, with a fresh minerality and a creamy and seamless finish. Vegan. Drink or hold. Screw cap."

James Suckling, 94 Points

"Reserved cashewnut aroma, a hint of free SO2 restraining it somewhat. Pristine fruit purity, a very clean well-made wine. In the mouth it's delicate, refined, intense and long, a subtle reserved style that possibly needs a bit more time to come out of its shell. Real potential here."
