Continued Recognition for the 2023 Parterre Chardonnay
The 2025 West Australian Good Food Guide Awards have announced their Top 25 Wines in WA, with the 2023 Parterre Chardonnay ranked #2 in the state, a significant acknowledgement of both the wine and the strength of Chardonnay in Margaret River.
Positioned among Western Australia’s most accomplished wines, this result reflects the precision, restraint and site expression at the heart of the Parterre philosophy.
A Standout Result for Margaret River Chardonnay
The WAGFG panel tasted through hundreds of wines ahead of this year’s awards, with judging concluding Tuesday morning. To see the 2023 Parterre Chardonnay placed second overall is a meaningful recognition of its character, clarity and structure.
Building on September’s Decanter Success
This WAGFG ranking follows the exceptional results from Decanter in September, who declared 2023 “one of the greatest Margaret River Chardonnay vintages of the past decade,” awarding the region a perfect 5+/5 rating.
Among more than 70 wines reviewed, the 2023 Parterre Chardonnay was placed within the top three wines of the region, receiving 97 points.
Decanter’s Cassandra Charlick described the wine as:
“Expressive, powerful, textural and complex, with purity, balance and excellent persistence.” – 97 points
This continues Fraser Gallop Estate’s longstanding history with Decanter, including our 2018 Parterre Chardonnay being awarded Best in Show from more than 17,000 wines. The highest distinction at the Decanter World Wine Awards.
A Reflection of Site and Season
Crafted from our single-vineyard site in Wilyabrup, the 2023 Parterre Chardonnay captures the season’s purity and tension, offering immediate appeal while retaining the structure to reward careful cellaring.
It stands as a clear expression of our estate philosophy:
Site-driven wines of purity, restraint and elegance.
The Perfect Chardonnay for Christmas Lunch
With its balance, freshness and layered complexity, the 2023 Parterre Chardonnay is an ideal pairing for Christmas lunch. Its purity and natural acidity complement festive dishes such as crayfish, roasted turkey breast, glazed ham, or a summer seafood spread, making it a standout choice for the season.
The 2023 vintage continues to affirm Chardonnay as one of Margaret River’s great strengths, and Parterre as a benchmark expression of the region.
