“Since opening in 2014, this luminous glass box of a restaurant on a Pyrmont pier has evolved from One To Watch into One Not To Miss.” The restaurant is Lumi, and the chef is Federico Zanellato, a man that the Australia Good Food Guide awarded two hats to for his inventive Japanese-Italian cooking. This cavalier spirit makes Zanellato the perfect person to oversee this Sunday long lunch where tradition and innovation come together.
For an event like this, it’s only fitting guests dine somewhere with a similar respect for the old and new. Since coming onto the scene a decade and a half ago, Fraser Gallop Estate has won hearts and palates and the private home of owners Nigel and Dorothy Gallop is as finely crafted as the estate’s award-winning wines. Sharing thoughts on the wines will be none other than wine writing doyen James Halliday: a fitting final flourish for a truly memorable day out.
