2009 Cabernet Sauvignon - 18.3 points
WA has had a series of great Cabernet vintages this decade. 2001, 2005 and 2008 are acclaimed as great and many are saying that the 2009 vintage is better.
The Fraser Gallop 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is one-half to one-third the price of the big name Cabernets and it is a winner in terms of both quality and price.
Winemaker Clive Otto reckons that the seven hectare, 12 year old, dry grown Cabernet block is producing exciting fruit. Each of their recent vintages has show success, culminating with the 2007 releases, the Decanter Awards Trophy for the Best International Red Bordeaux varietal.
This is juicy, restrained, fresh and delicious and it has serious varietal Cabernet characters.
This won the Best Dry Red Table Wine Trophy at the 2010 Margaret River Wine Show, when it was competing with many of the country’s finest Cabernets.
