The Wine Front June 2010

Name sounds like an affected way of saying ‘party’…so I quite like it. It’s a blend of Semillon (70%) and Sauvignon Blanc (30%) and I’m increasingly thinking of some of these styles “No Wood, No Good”. This sees a bit of oak action.

Main thing is that it’s calm, composed and vinous - everything is toned and tuned beautifully. Gentle tropical fruit, lime spider and subtle herbs with the wood quietly tapped in. Mellifluous and balanced with fine acidity, just the right amount of flavour and a mildly creamy finish. A viable alternative to Chardonnay. Delightful.
