Semillon Sauvignon Blanc
It’s 67% Semillon and the rest is Sauvignon Blanc. As it happens I have the 2008 vintage here as well, which I never got round to opening…until now.
2008 Vintage: Has a distinct pea pod/snapped snow pea character over lime, spice and a hint of vanilla. There’s a subtle creaminess offsetting the bright grapefruity acidity and flavour. It’s tight, yet soft, and has excellent length. Looking good. 2009-2013. 92 points.
2009 Vintage: There’s a little smokiness and flinty mineral accents over ripe lime and grapefruit with a light spicy grassiness. Light to medium bodied with zesty citrus flavour and a highly appealing dry and flinty texture - a wee dollop of cream smooths it out. Long dry finish with a twist of grapefruit and dried herb. I’m enthusiastic about this one. 94 points.
