Decanter World Wine Award Trophy

The 2007 Fraser Gallop Estate Cabernet Sauvignon has won the trophy for the Best Australian Red Bordeaux Varietal (over STGĀ£10) at the 2009 Decanter World Wine Awards, announced in London last week.

This trophy has come at an exceptionally early stage in the development of Fraser Gallop Estate. The fruit was entirley sourced from the Estate vineyard, planted in 1999.

Nigel Gallop says:

This remarkable achievement is the result, in large part, of three major factors:

  • Establishment of the vineyard in a proven area without any irrigation. This dry grown approach has resulted in the production of superb fruit much earlier than normally expected.

  • The arrival at Fraser Gallop Estate of the very talented Winemaker, Clive Otto. This is the first vintage produced by Clive at our newly commissioned winery.

  • The passion and abilities of all of the people at Fraser Gallop Estate.

The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon will be available in June 2009.
