The inaugural tasting was held at the Fraser Gallop Estate winey on Sunday 23 November, 2008. Special guests included Olivier Bernard from Domaine de Chevalier, James Halliday, Philip Rich, Jane Skilton MW, Ray Jordan, John Jens and Max Veenhuyzen plus many from the Margaret River wine industry.
Our aim was to bring a new appreciation to the blend as a serious example of white wine and to explore the differences between French and Australian styles.
Showcased were seven of the best of the 2005 Bordeaux Sauvignon Blanc Semillons and seven Australian examples from the 2005 and 2006 vintages. The line up included:
Chateau Haut Brion Blanc
Chateau Pape Clement
